Wellness Therapist, Spiritual Life Coach
Dr. Kawana Williams, Ph.D.
Hi, my name is Kawana Williams, but I’m often referred to by my students as “Dr. K.” As a therapist, I specialize in working with Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) cancer survivors, minority women (both adolescent and adult), and inner-city youth who have been deeply affected by life’s challenges, such as death, transitions, cancer diagnosis and survivorship, anxiety, and depression. My approach is rooted in a Strength-Based perspective, which empowers my clients to guide their therapeutic journey, as they are the true experts of their lives. This collaborative approach ensures that their unique needs and experiences are at the forefront of our work together.
I believe in treating my clients as whole individuals, recognizing they are much more than their traumas. To support this holistic view, I incorporate alternative healing methods such as crystal therapy and Reiki alongside traditional talk therapy. This integrative approach allows me to address various aspects of my clients’ well-being, acknowledging the effectiveness of multiple healing modalities. Doing so creates a safe and nurturing environment where my clients can explore and heal from their experiences.
My primary therapeutic modality is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which aligns with my long-held spiritual belief: what you think influences how you feel, and how you feel shapes who you are and how you present yourself to the world. Focusing on this connection, I help my clients understand and transform their thought patterns, leading to healthier emotional states and improved self-perception. I am dedicated to guiding my clients through their healing journey, providing them with the tools and support they need to thrive.
